Viva La Ruckus

Donations

To participate in JD’s 16th Annual Roundball Ruckus, you are required to submit a ten dollar ($10) “donation” for each bracket you submit. Those of you who choose Dook University as champion, you fall into special category of getting to “donate” eleven dollars ($11) for each bracket you submit. This extra dollar is known as the “Dook Tax” and has been in place since the beginning of time given my love for the North Carolina Tar Heels (yes, the same ‘Heels who shit the bed in spectacular fashion this season and will most likely miss both March Madness AND the NIT…excuse me while I go vomit) and my disdain for their rivals in Durham. It’s not going away no matter how much you bitch and moan. If the situation ever arises where I'm forced to choose between abolishing the Dook Tax and having carnal relations with a beehive, let's just say I'll be on my way to the store for some Astroglide and an Epi pen.

In the past, half of your “donation” went to the winners pot and the other half got you a one-of-a-kind, mind-blowingly-awesome t-shirt. I regret to inform you that there will not be Ruckus t-shirts this year due to a number of factors, most notably a.) I haven’t given one iota of thought to a shirt design; 2.) I suck at and am tired of the logistical pain in the ass that is t-shirt distribution given our increasingly large out-of-town following and D.) I still have a box of shirts in my basement from last year due to the aforementioned sucking at and logistical pain in the ass of t-shirt distribution.

In place of t-shirts this year, I have made the executive decision that half the “donations” this year will be donated to the Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Literacy Fund, a charity founded to honor the memory of a wonderful girl that funds reading and literacy programs. I understand that many of you participate solely for the aforementioned dumb t-shirts and I hope that the change in direction this year does not cause you to abandon your annual pilgrimage to Viva La Ruckus. Nobody loves a dumb t-shirt more than I do, but this is one of those times where there’s something more important at hand than a Viva La Ruckus shirt.

Your “donation” can be hand delivered, via Pay Pal to jdxruckus@yahoo.com or regular old snail mail.  I prefer PayPal or hand delivery but if you need my address, just e-mail me and we’ll get you taken care of. DONATIONS ARE DUE TO ME NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, MARCH 19TH, 2010. Please don’t make me chase you down to collect and get all Los Pepes on your ass. I reserve the right to drop you from the Ruckus and/or hunt you for sport if your payment is not received in a timely fashion.
